Privacy Policy
John 1:1 is built to be quiet. No account, no ads, and we never track you.
John 1:1 has no account and does not track you. Your reading position, saved verses, and progress stay on your device. The only data that ever leaves your phone is anonymous, aggregate usage analytics — not linked to your identity, and never used to track you across other apps or websites.
What stays on your device
The app stores a few things locally, on your phone, so it can work the way you'd expect:
- Where you're reading — so you can pick up where you left off.
- Verses you save — your bookmarks.
- Your reading progress — which verses and books you've read.
- The day's verse and which verses you've already been shown — so the daily verse is fresh and never repeats.
- Your preferences — translation, light/dark, and whether you've seen the intro.
This information is kept in the app's local storage on your device and is never sent to us. The entire Bible and its connections are bundled inside the app and read directly from your device, so reading works fully offline. If you delete the app, this information is deleted with it.
Anonymous analytics
To understand how the app is used and make it better, we collect a small amount of anonymous, aggregate usage data — for example, that the app was opened, that a verse was read, saved, or shared, or that the daily verse was opened. These events:
- are not linked to your name, email, or any personal identity (there is no account);
- are never used to track you across other apps or websites, and are not shared with advertisers or data brokers;
- do not include the content of what you read, search, or save — only anonymous counts of actions.
We use a random, app-only identifier to count unique devices for metrics like retention. It is not your Apple ID, not the advertising identifier, and is not shared with anyone. Analytics are processed by TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused service that receives only the anonymous events above.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, the daily verse is scheduled locally on your device by iOS. We do not operate a notification server and we never see whether or when a notification is delivered.
No tracking, no ads, no accounts
- We use no advertising and no cross-app or cross-site tracking. The app does not request permission to track because it never does.
- The only analytics are the anonymous, aggregate usage data described above.
- There is no account to create and no sign-in.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages. We collect no personal information from anyone, including children — only the anonymous, aggregate usage data described above.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above.
